About this Event
Because of recent regulatory changes tiny homes and backyard cottages, also known as Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) are now easier to permit than ever.
This presentation, sponsored by Alameda Tiny Homes, will help homeowners learn about the City of Alameda ADU requirements, the permitting process and the general construction costs and project timelines involved in building an ADU in Alameda.
ADU 101 will cover:
- City of Alameda ADU requirements
- Permitting cost and timelines
- Project budgeting and timelines
- Landscape and yard layout
- Upcoming CA regulatory changes for 2020
We will also explore interior design inspiration for tiny spaces and other project considerations, including information from Arborealis Landscape Design on the importance of backyard layout and landscaping design that will help you make the most of yard space and your ADU.

About this Event
Join us for a night of celestial bliss with folk / Americana singer-songwriters Anna Tivel and Jeffrey Martin at Alameda’s PHOENIX!
Doors @ 7:30. Show starts at 8pm! (21+)
Anna Tivel has spent some quality hours in a dodge caravan repeating lyrical lines over and over until the words fall in time with the windshield wipers.
A nationally touring artist with a deep love of quiet stories, Anna is beginning to carve a place for herself in the songwriting world. She was a winner of the Telluride Troubadour Contest and the Kerrville Songwriting Contest, placed second at the Rocky Mountain Folk contest, and has shared the stage with heroes and friends like Gregory Alan Isakov, Blind Pilot, Anais Mitchell, Mandolin Orange, Peter Mulvey, Matt the Electrician, Jeffrey Martin and more.
As a babe Jeffrey Martin sought out solitude as often as he could find it. He’s always been that way, and he has never understood the whole phenomenon of smiling in pictures, although he is a very happy guy. One night in middle school he stayed up under the covers with a flashlight and a DiscMan, listening to Reba McEntire’s ‘That’s the Night that the Lights Went Out in Georgia’ on repeat until the DiscMan ran out of batteries. That night he became a songwriter, although he didn’t actually write a song until years later. After high school he spent a few years distracting himself from having to gather up the courage to do what he knew he had to do.
Jeffrey has put out bunches of music since 2009, but he’s most proud of the more recent stuff. He’s fortunate to be a part of the great and loving family that is Fluff and Gravy Records in Portland, OR. “One Go Around,” which released in October 2017, is his 3rd full length album. At his luckiest, he’s shared shows with the likes of Sean Hayes, Gregory Alan Isakov, Courtney Marie Andrews, Jeffrey Foucault, Joe Pug, Peter Mulvey, Amanda Shires, Sean Rowe, Tracy Grammer, David Wilcox, and others.
